Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact life saver I brought 2 metal lifestraws I’m with the search and rescue in nevada. We are always concerned with weight in our backpacks. Life straw provides compact , light and life saving equipment. I tried it in a relative clear rapid moving stream. Water tasted good and refreshing. No side effects a few hours later. Next step will be more turbid water. Just need a little more guts to try LoL

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Peace of mind We bought a dozen of these plus replacement filters so we have them for our “disaster go bags”, in our cars and for travel to countries where sanitation is questionable. So nice to be able to know we’re not ingesting microbes and diseases as souvenirs. Great to know in case of emergency, any source of water will be safe for us to drink and these Lifestraws may save our lives.

I know about charcoal pre filter caps, but what about the main filter? Is there replacements for it, do you clean it, or do you have to by a new straw? I have searched everywhere and can't find and answer to this.

Asked by: Doug123
I believe it’s a disposable item. The plastic model that is.

Are they hard to get water from like sucking hard and hardly any water going through

Asked by: Marie
The filter should only become clogged and harder to pull water through once it has reached its end of cycle (4000 liters).

Is it safe to drink from and suck on the metal straw? I know some stainless steel products(in general) fall under California Proclamation 65 which states that the product can cause harm if sucked on or put in the mouth.

Asked by: Broncos123
It is safe to drink from the LifeStraw Steel product and the evidence dossiers to support our claims can be found at the link below.

Does the steel version filter lead as the flex does? Or is the flex the only one of the "fleet" that filters lead with its carbon filter?

Asked by: AndyM159
The Steel does not filter lead. The Play with lead reduction, Home pitcher and Flex are the only products the reduce lead.
