Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Deal in Bulk Water Filtration Anywhere I've used a lot of water purifiers over the years, both in the home and outdoors. Once I found the original lifestraw, it became my go-to—period. I have several different Lifestraw units now and love them all. Recently, I bought the Lifestraw community for use as the final stage for our roof catchment system so we can transition from municipal water. It's exactly what we were looking for. And bonus: Lifestraw contributes to the betterment of the world and to helping the needy with our most basic essential: clean, safe water. Love this company!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use. We have an unconventional use for this product. Due to the hardness of the water in our area, we collect rain water in order to minimize the "dust" put out by the minerals in the water. We use this in our ultrasonic humidifiers. But it should really be purified first. We'd used the LifeStraw Family for years, but it just took too much time to filter. Went to this "big boy" here. It is really worth the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had this over three years, Love it!! We live in the country, water comes from a creek, so drinking is an issue. Love this, easy to care for, and the water is amazing. Have several different filters, the family uses, and recommend them all. You can call if you have problems, the company is three to help, and are amazing. It does what you expect it to do, and has been our life saver, stopped the purchasing of bottled water. Easily payed for itself the first year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Strange I just received the Lifestraw Community today in the mail. I believe the assembly instructions are very much lacking. There is no mention in the instructions of attaching the spouts to the safe water container. There is no mention of how the filter can be replaced, even though replacement filters can be purchased. The instructions are in very small print, so for me, with glasses and the beginning of cataracts, I had to get a magnifying glass. There is no mention of the "auto fill kit" and how to install it. I never ordered this, but here it is. Additionally, there is a hone in the dirty water container to mount the auto fill kit, but the kit just wobbles around. I think a gasket is missing. Without installing the auto fill kit, the input holding tank has a reduced capacity, since it will just run out the hole! There is no mention of an auto fill kit in any videos online, or in any material I can find. What happened? Did I get some variation of the LifeStraw Community that had been discontinued? I'm very disappointed in this product and I haven't even gotten to filling it with water yet!.

The filter lasts 26000 gallons before needing to be replaced, however how often does it need to be taken out and cleaned and how involved is that process??? Also, can the unit survive (empty) in freezing conditions in a shed?

Asked by: SteveS
The only time the cartridge comes out is when it gets replaced. The cleaning would happen to the other parts of this product. The recommended temperature suggestions for our products are: -33 degrees Fahrenheit/1 degree Celsius -140 degrees Fahrenheit/60 degree Celsius

how does it work

Asked by: jack123curry
We are very happy with it... just remember to clean it out every 2 weeks takes about 5-10 minutes.... it’s worth every penny when I think how much we spent on bottled water for a year this more then makes up for it..
