Enjoyable to Use, and Water Tastes Great
We have been using our LifeStraw Home pitcher for several weeks now, and I enjoy using it so much more than our old Pur pitcher. The filter lid flips open and closes depending on the flow of water coming in, so I don't have to ever remove the lid for filling. The pitcher is a nice size and is easy to handle and pour. For our family of five, we probably should have a larger sizes pitcher, but we try to refill after most uses, so this size has worked fine for us. I only give the four stars because I can't find any independent lab testing on this pitcher, and because it doesn't remove as many chemicals in the water as other filters on the market.

We love this pitcher
We are a ranching family, and deal with unreliable water quality due to water line b. We bought this pitcher so that no matter where our water is coming from, we know it's safe for our family.
Let me tell you what--even if we did have great water, I think I'd still use this pitcher because it makes water taste SO GOOD. I did an experiment where I filled up my Yeti at my doctor's office (good city water but has kind of a funny taste) and brought it home, and put it through the pitcher, and the goofy taste was gone.
Our water is also very hard, and this does away with that dilemma. Pitcher seems sturdy to me, and I'm so glad my husband found this for us!

Leaves an Unsavory Residue
I bought this water filter because I was concerned about my health but after using it I think calling it a "filter" is a misnomer: it leaves disgusting orange particulate material in my water that emanates from the microplastics filter. I've cleaned the microplastics filter multiple times with vinegar on a regular basis. I do not have a high iron content in my water and before I run the water through the Lifestraw filter, I run it through another filter that reduces certain minerals, including iron. Also, the residue chunks are massive (giant orange chunks). Something isn't right here and I feel uncomfortable using this product.

Always refilling
I have always loved the LifeStraw technology and as far as water goes - I'm really happy. Great taste, very clean. But I don't love the design on this pitcher. The filter area doesn't hold a lot of water, so I have to fill it, wait for the water to filter, and repeat about 4 times before I would call the pitcher "full". And it's not a huge pitcher and I drink a lot of water so a full pitcher doesn't last very long. I feel like I'm constantly refilling it - which wouldn't be bad if the refilling process wasn't so cumbersome. I'm sad to write a 3-star review but honestly this product is just not working for me. Despite wanting to love it, it's a pretty big hassle as far as water filtration goes.

Finally, A Good Glass Filter
I spent weeks searching for a decent filter with a glass housing and was amazed at what a stranglehold the plastic industry has on the world of water filters. Apparently Brita released one once, but it's not available anymore, and some other company made one, but you can literally only buy it in Europe. It's quite bizarre. There's also the Soma, but by the sound of it, it's not a very good product. Then suddenly I stumbled upon the LifeStraw Home, a fairly new product, as it was still a Kickstarter in 2018. The product delivers clean, crisp water in a glass container, and my purchase contributes to a great environmental and humanitarian cause to boot. Glad I was patient in my search and found the LifeStraw Home.

Home PITCHER durability & taste
At first I was fearful of the glass breaking. I am not a gentle person. However this pitcher survived on a trailer, towed by my bicycle for just over 1,600 miles in one journey. From Amherst Ohio to Lincoln Nebraska & back. WITHOUT BREAKING! I did unfortunately find out that it did leave a taste in the water IF I let the water stay in complete contact with the plastic, covered up in a cooler bag in the sun for more than two hours. Granted though the AIR temperature did excede 90-95 degrees easily. I do not know what the temperature was in the direct sunlight, IN the bag. Would I buy this again, for myself or others, YES. Quite shocked that it survived MY use.

Looks Great
The pitcher is really pretty and it is great to have glass rather than plastic. Plus, it filters out a lot more than many other filtering pitchers (including lead). Overall, I am really happy with it but there are two cautions. First, you have to 3-4 pitcherfuls of water through the filter when you get started or the water tastes awful. But once you have done that, the water is good. Second, it takes a little (but not much) longer to refill than most filtering pitchers. But no regrets on the buy, would buy again, and have even sent one as a gift since using mine.

The glass broke in first week
The product really looks nice and water was clean. We were so excited to get it. However, the glass broke in the first week of use itself. We were simply putting the jar on the granite countertop in the kitchen and one side touched the countertop first and immediately broke. This is design flaw. It should come with a silicon/rubber sleeve for the bottom part. I ordered through kickstart and now I do not know where to get the jar. I still have 5 filters left with me. Any idea? I'd only recommend this product if they can introduce some kind of sleeve to cover the bottom part.

Does your filter remove 100% of any coliform bacteria present in the source water?
Our filters can remove coliforms same level as bacteria.

Where can you recycle the filters? In the FAQs, it says that carbon filters are not yet recyclable. I like the 7-cup glass pitcher, & it seems to have 2 filters: carbon & membrane microfilter. Can I recycle one or both filters? Thanks!
All parts of this product are recyclable except for the carbon capsule. The carbon capsule would be disposed of in regular trash, and everything else would just be thrown away with your recycling at home.

Would putting something like a lemon slice after the water has been filtered damage the filters?
If the water is already filtered, adding a lemon slice is not a problem. When you pour the water out from the carafe, it doesn't go through the filter a second time.

What kind of carbon filter is this- a solid block carbon or granular activated carbon?
Our carbon capsule is fiber, not a solid block or granular.

Do these filters remove phthalates from water?

I have the glass pitcher and periodically I see green growth on the glass. This worries me. What is the green stuff. Should I stop using it?
I have seen this in other water filter pitchers before, it is simply some algae growth. The water is so clean and chemical free that algae can grow in it if it is left standing for a long time and possibly exposed to direct sunlight. You can simply wash it with mild soap and water to keep it clean. I would NOT use clorox! I would rather drink algae than clorox.

How can I remove mold from the silicon sleeve.
The silicon sleeve is durable and dishwasher safe. Simply remove it from the product and you can use soap or bleach spray to wash or scrub it or you can run it through a dishwasher cycle.
