Reviews

Life Straw, 10 cup

"I can’t tell you how much better I feel knowing that microplastics aren’t invading my body and brain! It’s so easy to use, and looks so stylish out on my counter. I fill it every morning, and it only takes a short few minutes to filter."

Victoria G. (5/5)

Beautiful but a bit awkward to use

"This is a lovely glass pitcher and, after sufficiently priming the filter, the water is clean and delicious. However, it's quite heavy, even when filled only half-way. I supposed that's the compromise to be made for choosing glass over plastic. Also, because the water flow is low and slow, compared to other pitchers, one has to hold up the pitcher longer while filling a glass. So for anyone who has trouble lifting and gripping heavy-ish objects, the glass option may not be ideal for you."

Monique D. (3/5)

Great water filter!

"I'm very happy with my Lifestraw glass pitcher. It's a little slow to refill, especially when filling up my 32oz water bottle. The water itself, though is very good and has no plastic taste which was the reason for my purchase. My home has plastic water lines and I can't stand the taste or smell. LIFESTRAW gets rid of it completely. Eventually, I might get the larger pitcher."

Geoffrey R. (5/5)

tuff

"After breaking in the filter(s) after a couple uses I have no complaints! It filters relatively fast and the water is great. Gives me peace of mind to be drinking clean water free of PFAS, microplastics, and any other bacteria. Great product for a good price and the filters have a nice lifespan."

Hayden F. (5/5)

No more plastic

"We're in the process of converting to all Lifestraw. We used Brita before, but now use the home filter unit and this new pitcher. The community unit is boxed in the garage in case water supply becomes a serious problem. The new pitcher is easy to use and uses the same filter as our home unit. We like it, keep it coming!"

William S. (4/5)

Sleek looking jug

"I appreciate the glass reservoir for purified water. It makes more sense than plastic. I'm still getting accustomed to filling it from the tap. The water really has no taste and that's a good thing. I'm trying to drink more water and this helps"

Mary M. (4/5)

Good taso

"My first time- the water tastes good, and I feel comforted that it’s a glass pitcher- But…. This seven cup water filter system is SLOW!!!! - it’s just my husband and I- so one would think a seven cup pitcher would be sufficient for our daily use- I looked into a bigger size but it plastic (PBA free- but still Plastic)"

sepideh f. (4/5)

Wobbly when pouring

"I loved the aesthetic of this pitcher and the overall Lifestraw filtering and brand ethos. But the filter just doesn't stay secure in the pitcher. They kindly replaced my first one when we thought it might be a manufacturing defect, but the second one does the same thing. You have to use two hands to pour because it feels like the entire filter is going to fly out of the pitcher. Seems like they need a 2. 0 version where the lid really locks into the pitcher."

Hillary M. (3/5)

7-cup glass pitcher

"I researched quite a few homewater filter options (pitchers or dispensers), and I chose this one in part because it is glass. I am trying to get away from plastics. I also liked that the two filters combined filtered out so many things I don't want in my water. I just wish the pitcher was a tiny bit shorter--it does not fit easily in my refrigerator. I now just leave it on the counter and fill a regular glass pitcher with the filtered water so we have plenty of safe, cold water to drink."

Colleen S. (5/5)

Love it!

"I love this pitcher! You can really taste the difference. The water tastes so clean and crisp. It does take a little while for the pitcher to filter the water but it’s worth it! Highly recommend if you are looking to upgrade your water health!"

Q&A

Does this filter out nitrates?
Thank you for reaching out with your question. At this time, LifeStraw products do not remove nitrates or nitrites from drinking water. These compounds are highly soluble and require specialized filtration methods—such as reverse osmosis or ion exchange systems—to be effectively reduced. Our filters are designed to target a broad range of other contaminants, including: Bacteria and parasites Microplastics Heavy metals like lead and mercury PFAS, pesticides, and chlorine (varies by product) If nitrate contamination is a concern in your area, we recommend using a system specifically certified for nitrate reduction or contacting your local water authority for additional support. Please let us know if you have any other questions—we’re happy to help.
High tall is the 7 glass pitcher. I ordered and received the 10 glass but it is too tall to fit in my refrigerator. Is the 7 glass shorter?
Hi, The measurements for the 7 cup are 11.25 in tall. The 10 cup is and 12.6 in. I hope this helps!
Do you use it continuously and not let the inner filter dry out? It doesn't need to be dried or cleaned?
Hi, We sent you a separate email to answer your question. You can also go to https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx3RzuKkgEyQq4uI5f6neFv726SZ2N3c9&feature=shared for video instructions on care an maintenance of your LifeStraw Home product.
Do these filter out the HAA5 and HAA9 Acids?
Hello, At this time, LifeStraw products do not remove Haloacetic acids or trihalomethanes (THHMs) from water. Thank you for your question.
Does the life straw pitcher filter out oil from oil leak under our ground at Lindy Lake, west Milford, nj? What is your phone number?
Our LifeStraw Home Pitcher is designed to reduce lead, mercury, PFAS, chlorine, pesticides, and other chemicals, but it is not specifically tested or certified for removing petroleum-based contaminants, such as those from an oil leak. If your water is affected by an underground oil leak, we strongly recommend: ✔ Testing your water for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and petroleum-based pollutants. ✔ Using a filtration system specifically designed for hydrocarbons and oil contamination, such as an activated carbon block system with advanced VOC removal capabilities. ✔ Consulting your local water authority or environmental agency for guidance on safe drinking water solutions. For further assistance, please visit LifeStraw’s official website or reach out via our contact page.
Does this filter out fluoride as well?
The LifeStraw Home Pitcher is designed to remove contaminants such as bacteria, parasites, microplastics, heavy metals (including lead), PFAS, chlorine, and more. However, it does not remove fluoride, as our focus is on reducing harmful contaminants while retaining essential minerals.
Hello, I am disappointed with my 7-cup Lifestraw pitcher. Unless, I misunderstand something, the top reservoir holds only about 2 cups. So unless you wait other 10 mins to add more water, the pitcher functions as a 2 cup pitcher. I would not have bought the product had I know this. Am I using it wrong?
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with the 7-cup LifeStraw Home Pitcher. I’m sorry to hear that it hasn’t met your expectations, and I’d be happy to clarify how it functions. The top reservoir does hold less than the full 7-cup capacity—this design ensures proper filtration and prevents overflow. The best way to use it efficiently is to fill the reservoir, allow it to filter through (which typically takes a few minutes-if it is taking longer, please reach out to us at info@lifestraw.com), and then refill as needed. While this does require waiting between refills, once fully filtered, the pitcher will hold its intended 7-cup capacity. We completely understand how this may not have been what you expected, and appreciate your feedback
Hello, I just received my 10 cup home life straw yesterday. I followed the instructions completely for flushing and washing. I drank my first 2 pint size glasses last afternoon and evening. I just woke up at 2:30 AM itching on my torso and arms. What could be causing this allergy?
I'm sorry you're experiencing discomfort. While LifeStraw filters are made from food-grade, BPA-free materials, some individuals may have sensitivities to new products or environmental factors. If the issue persists, you may want to temporarily switch back to your previous water source and see if symptoms improve. If you have concerns, it's best to consult a medical professional for personalized advice.
Specifically, what kind of plastic is used to manufacture (1) the pitcher and (2) the filter housings? Please answer beyond "BPA-free plastic".
Our pitcher, dispenser, and housings are made of SMMA.
Does this remove phosphates ?
The LifeStraw Home 7-Cup Pitcher does not specifically target the removal of phosphates. While it effectively removes contaminants like bacteria, parasites, microplastics, chlorine, and some heavy metals, as well as improving taste and odor, phosphates are not explicitly listed as a contaminant the filter is designed to remove. If removing phosphates (commonly found in fertilizers and detergents) is a key concern, you might need a more specialized filtration system, such as one with reverse osmosis or ion exchange technology, which are effective at removing phosphates from water.
